Try Free AI for WordPress and Build Smarter Websites with Baiws

Introduction

AI for WordPress uses artificial intelligence to make building, managing and improving WordPress websites faster and easier. It can help create content, plan page layouts, improve SEO and simplify website management without replacing WordPress itself.

Artificial intelligence is changing the way we work, communicate and do business. From writing emails to analysing data, AI is helping people complete tasks in minutes that once took hours. Website building is no exception.

If you’ve been researching AI for WordPress, you’ve probably come across dozens of tools claiming they can build an entire website at the click of a button. Some promise perfect designs, instant content and effortless SEO, making it sound as though you’ll never need to think about your website again.

The reality is a little different.

AI isn’t replacing WordPress. It’s making WordPress easier to use.

For years, WordPress has been the platform of choice for businesses that want control over their website. It’s flexible and scalable, but getting started hasn’t always been straightforward.

Choosing the right theme, finding reliable hosting, installing plugins and configuring everything correctly can quickly become overwhelming, particularly if you’ve never built a website before.

That’s exactly the problem platforms like Baiws were created to solve.

Rather than expecting you to become a WordPress expert overnight, Baiws combines artificial intelligence with WordPress to remove much of the complexity.

Instead of spending hours searching for themes, comparing plugins or watching tutorial videos, you describe the website you want to create and AI helps you build it using WordPress.

The result isn’t a shortcut or a gimmick.

It’s still WordPress.

It’s simply WordPress without many of the usual headaches.

AI for WordPress – key takeaways

  • AI for WordPress can help create content, plan layouts, organise pages and improve website workflows.
  • AI does not replace WordPress; it can make WordPress easier and faster to use.
  • Standalone AI plugins often solve individual problems but can increase the number of tools a website owner needs to manage.
  • Integrated platforms can combine AI, WordPress, hosting, themes, security and website management in one place.
  • AI works best when it supports human ideas and decision-making rather than replacing them.
  • Baiws combines AI-powered website creation with native WordPress and Gutenberg.

What does AI for WordPress actually mean?

Despite how often the phrase appears online, AI for WordPress doesn’t refer to one specific tool or piece of software.

Instead, it describes the use of artificial intelligence to help people build, manage and improve WordPress websites.

AI for WordPress can be used for tasks including:

  • Generating website content
  • Planning page layouts and sections
  • Creating new pages
  • Suggesting website improvements
  • Helping organise content
  • Generating blog ideas
  • Assisting with search engine optimisation
  • Making website changes through natural-language instructions

Think of AI as an experienced assistant sitting beside you.

It doesn’t replace your ideas or your business knowledge. Instead, it helps turn those ideas into a professional website much more quickly.

The best AI tools don’t try to take control away from you.

They remove repetitive jobs that make building and maintaining a website feel harder than it needs to be.

How does AI work with WordPress?

AI can sit on top of WordPress and make common website-building tasks easier to complete.

Traditionally, creating a page might involve choosing blocks, arranging sections, writing content, finding images and adjusting settings manually.

With an AI-assisted approach, you may instead be able to describe what you want in ordinary language.

For example:

  • “Create a services section for my plumbing business.”
  • “Write an introduction for my accounting website.”
  • “Add a frequently asked questions section.”
  • “Create a new contact page.”
  • “Suggest some blog topics for my business.”

The AI can help translate those instructions into actions within the website-building process.

The important distinction is that the finished website can still be a genuine WordPress website.

With Baiws, for example, websites are built using WordPress and Gutenberg while AI helps simplify the process of creating and managing them.

Why traditional WordPress can feel overwhelming

WordPress has earned its reputation for being incredibly powerful, but that power comes with choices.

Before you’ve even started designing your website, you’ll often need to decide:

  • Which hosting company should I use?
  • Which theme is best for my business?
  • Which plugins do I actually need?
  • How do I optimise my website for search engines?
  • How do I keep everything updated and secure?

For experienced developers, those decisions are routine.

For a small business owner trying to launch a website, they can be enough to stop the project before it begins.

Many people spend weeks researching themes, reading reviews and comparing plugins instead of actually building their website.

That’s where AI can start to make a genuine difference.

Instead of leaving you to figure everything out yourself, AI can help guide the process.

Rather than presenting hundreds of technical options, it can help you move from an idea to a finished website far more quickly.

How AI is changing the way people build WordPress websites

Not long ago, building a WordPress website usually meant spending days researching tutorials, experimenting with themes and trying to work out which plugins you actually needed.

Even after your website was live, the work didn’t stop.

You still had to update plugins, optimise images, improve your SEO, monitor performance and make sure everything continued working together after updates.

For many small business owners, managing the website could become another job in itself.

That’s why AI has become such a useful addition to WordPress.

Rather than replacing the platform, AI can reduce the time spent on repetitive tasks, allowing you to focus on your business instead of the technology behind your website.

AI can help write website content

Need help writing a homepage?

AI can produce a first draft that you can review, edit and adapt to match your business.

AI can help structure pages

Not sure how to structure your services page?

AI can suggest appropriate sections and help organise the information in a logical order.

AI can help generate blog ideas

Struggling to think of useful topics?

AI can help generate ideas based on your business, services and the questions your customers are likely to ask.

AI can help with SEO tasks

Tasks such as drafting page titles, organising content and identifying relevant topics can also be assisted by AI.

It’s not about cutting corners.

It’s about working smarter.

What can AI do for a WordPress website?

The capabilities depend on the tool or platform you choose, but AI can potentially assist with many parts of running a WordPress website.

Typical uses include:

  • Website creation: Helping turn a description of a business into pages and website sections.
  • Content creation: Producing first drafts for pages, product descriptions and blog posts.
  • Page planning: Suggesting logical structures for homepages, services pages and landing pages.
  • SEO assistance: Helping organise topics, titles and content around relevant search intent.
  • Website editing: Allowing changes to be requested through natural-language instructions.
  • Idea generation: Suggesting content, page and blog ideas.
  • Website management: Simplifying repetitive tasks that would otherwise require navigating multiple settings and tools.

AI is most useful when these capabilities are integrated into the way the website itself is built and managed.

The problem with using lots of separate AI tools

As AI has grown in popularity, many WordPress plugins and external tools have appeared, each promising to make website management easier.

Some focus on content writing.

Others generate images.

Some improve SEO.

Others help with design or customer support.

On paper, they all sound useful.

The problem is that every new plugin can add another dashboard, subscription and piece of software to maintain.

Instead of simplifying WordPress, website owners can end up creating a collection of disconnected tools that don’t always work well together.

If one tool changes, another part of your workflow may be affected.

If you cancel a subscription, you could lose features you’ve come to rely on.

Before long, you can end up spending more time managing your website tools than growing your business.

That’s one reason an integrated approach can be attractive.

Standalone AI plugins vs an integrated AI WordPress platform

Typical differences between standalone AI tools and an integrated AI WordPress platform
AreaStandalone AI toolsIntegrated AI platform
SetupMay require installing and configuring several separate toolsAI can be built into the website-building process
SubscriptionsMultiple services may require separate subscriptionsCore website services may be combined within one platform
WorkflowDifferent tools may use separate interfaces and dashboardsWebsite creation and management can use a more consistent workflow
WordPressUsually added to an existing WordPress setupCan be designed around WordPress from the beginning
HostingUsually arranged separatelyMay be included as part of the platform
ThemeUsually selected and maintained separatelyMay include a theme designed specifically for the platform
MaintenancePlugins, hosting and other components may need separate managementMaintenance services may be brought together in one place

The right approach depends on what you need from your website.

Someone who already has an established WordPress setup may prefer individual tools.

A business owner starting from scratch may prefer a platform that reduces the number of separate decisions and services required.

Why Baiws takes a different approach

Many AI tools for WordPress focus on solving one small part of the process.

One plugin writes content.

Another creates images.

Another helps with SEO.

Another builds page layouts.

Before long, you’ve installed several different AI tools, each with its own settings and learning curve.

Ironically, WordPress can become more complicated instead of simpler.

Baiws was designed differently.

Instead of asking you to piece together lots of separate tools, Baiws brings AI and WordPress together within one platform.

AI isn’t treated simply as an additional feature. It’s integrated into the way you create and manage your website.

You can explore the Baiws AI website builder to see how the AI-assisted website creation process works.

Why Baiws is different

When Max Garrod created Baiws, the goal wasn’t to build another AI plugin.

After more than a decade of designing websites and helping businesses establish their online presence, one thing became obvious.

The biggest challenge wasn’t WordPress itself.

It was everything surrounding it:

  • Choosing hosting
  • Finding a suitable theme
  • Installing plugins
  • Keeping everything updated
  • Managing security
  • Trying to make different tools work together

Most business owners don’t want to become WordPress experts.

They simply want a professional website that helps them attract customers.

That’s what Baiws was built to help deliver.

Instead of asking you to assemble your own WordPress toolkit, Baiws brings the main components together in one place.

The platform includes:

  • AI-powered website creation and assistance
  • A professionally developed WordPress theme
  • Managed hosting
  • Built-in analytics
  • Automatic updates
  • Security and ongoing maintenance
  • A website built using native WordPress and Gutenberg

You can explore the Baiws platform to see what’s included.

A smarter way to use AI for WordPress

One of the biggest misconceptions about AI is that it can replace human creativity.

It can’t.

Your business has its own personality, values and story.

No AI tool can fully understand why your customers choose you over your competitors without being given the right context and direction.

What AI can do is remove repetitive work that often gets in the way.

Instead of spending hours creating page layouts or writing placeholder content, you can describe your business in plain English and allow AI to help with the initial work.

You remain in control of the finished website.

You’re simply getting there faster.

That’s the philosophy behind Baiws.

Rather than replacing WordPress, it enhances the website-building experience, helping businesses create professional websites without the steep learning curve traditionally associated with setting everything up themselves.

Can AI for WordPress help with SEO?

AI can assist with WordPress SEO, but using AI does not automatically result in higher search rankings.

AI can help with tasks such as:

  • Generating relevant content ideas
  • Organising pages around clear topics
  • Creating useful headings
  • Drafting title and description ideas
  • Answering common customer questions
  • Improving the structure and readability of content
  • Creating first drafts that can then be reviewed by a human

However, useful content, website performance, accessibility, technical quality and a good experience for visitors still matter.

AI should therefore be treated as a tool for making good website work easier, rather than a replacement for a sound SEO strategy.

Can AI-written WordPress content appear in AI search results?

AI-generated content isn’t automatically more visible in AI-generated search answers simply because AI was used to create it.

What matters is whether the finished page is useful, understandable, accessible and relevant to the question someone is asking.

Content intended to be useful to both traditional search engines and AI-powered discovery should generally:

  • Answer important questions directly
  • Use clear descriptive headings
  • Explain important terms in straightforward language
  • Use semantic HTML and logical page structure
  • Include accurate information about the business or subject
  • Provide useful supporting detail rather than repeating keywords
  • Include descriptive internal links to relevant pages
  • Make important information easy for visitors to find

AI can help create and organise that information, but the usefulness and accuracy of the finished content remain important.

Is AI for WordPress right for every business?

For many businesses, AI can be useful, but that doesn’t mean every AI solution is the right one.

Whether you’re a local tradesperson, a café owner, an accountant, a photographer or an online retailer, your website ultimately needs to help your business grow.

It should attract visitors, build trust and encourage people to contact you, book a service or make a purchase.

AI can help you achieve those goals more efficiently, but only when the technology genuinely simplifies the process.

If you’re still having to compare themes, install numerous plugins, configure hosting and troubleshoot technical problems, you’re not necessarily saving much time.

You’re simply swapping one set of challenges for another.

A useful question to ask is:

Does this platform actually make running my website easier?

Who can benefit from AI for WordPress?

AI-assisted WordPress tools may be particularly useful for:

  • Small business owners who want to create a professional website without becoming developers.
  • Local businesses that need service pages, contact information and regular website updates.
  • New businesses that want to get online without spending weeks researching website technology.
  • Bloggers and content creators who want assistance generating and organising content ideas.
  • Existing WordPress users who want to reduce repetitive website-management work.
  • Businesses replacing an old website that want a simpler way to rebuild their online presence.

The value comes from reducing repetitive work while keeping the website owner in control.

Why more businesses are choosing Baiws

Baiws wasn’t created simply to add another AI tool to WordPress.

It was built to solve many of the problems that have frustrated WordPress users for years.

Instead of piecing together multiple services from different companies, Baiws gives you the tools needed to build and manage a professional WordPress website in one place.

That includes:

  • AI-powered website creation and assistance
  • A professionally developed premium WordPress theme
  • Fast managed hosting
  • Built-in analytics
  • Automatic updates
  • Security and ongoing maintenance
  • A website built using native WordPress and Gutenberg

The goal is to make the website-building process straightforward from day one.

Rather than spending your evenings watching tutorial videos or trying to fix plugin conflicts, you can focus on adding products, writing blogs, speaking to customers and growing your business.

That’s where AI can deliver one of its biggest benefits.

It doesn’t just help you build a website.

It can give you more time to focus on your business.

AI is only as good as the platform behind it

Artificial intelligence is a powerful tool, but on its own it won’t fix a slow website, improve poor hosting or replace a badly built theme.

That’s why choosing the platform behind the AI matters as much as the AI itself.

At Baiws, AI isn’t treated as an optional extra.

It’s integrated into the website-building experience.

From the moment you start creating your website, AI can help you generate content, build pages and guide you through the process.

Behind the scenes, the website is supported by a platform designed around WordPress, providing the flexibility WordPress is known for without requiring users to assemble every component themselves.

It’s the difference between simply adding AI to WordPress and building a WordPress experience around AI.

Are Premium WordPress Themes Worth It?

Introduction

Premium WordPress themes can be worth paying for when they provide reliable updates, professional support, good performance and the flexibility your website needs. However, paying for a theme does not automatically guarantee better quality.

The value of a premium WordPress theme depends on its code quality, speed, ongoing maintenance, support and long-term costs. A lightweight free theme can sometimes outperform a poorly built premium theme, while a well-maintained premium theme can save a business considerable time and frustration.

If you’ve ever started building a WordPress website, you’ve probably found yourself asking the same question: are premium WordPress themes really worth paying for?

It doesn’t take long before you’re faced with thousands of options. There are free themes available through the official WordPress theme directory, marketplaces filled with premium designs, and developers claiming their theme is the fastest, most customisable or best for SEO.

For someone launching a business website, it can quickly become overwhelming.

At first glance, choosing a free theme may seem like the obvious decision. After all, why spend money when so many free alternatives are available? Premium WordPress themes, meanwhile, often promise better performance, more features, regular updates and dedicated support.

The truth is that there is no one-size-fits-all answer.

For some websites, a free theme will provide everything required. For others, investing in a premium theme can save hours of frustration, improve performance and provide a stronger foundation for long-term growth.

In this article, we’ll compare free and premium WordPress themes, examine their potential hidden costs and explain how your choice of theme can affect your website’s speed, security, usability and search visibility.

Premium WordPress themes: key takeaways

  • A premium price does not automatically mean better quality.
  • Regular updates and reliable support can make a premium theme valuable for a business website.
  • Some premium themes include unnecessary features that can affect performance and usability.
  • A lightweight free theme may be suitable for a simple blog, personal website or small project.
  • The total cost may include licence renewals, premium plugins, hosting, maintenance and developer support.
  • The best theme is one that is fast, actively maintained, accessible and appropriate for your website’s requirements.

What is a premium WordPress theme?

A WordPress theme is a collection of files that controls the presentation of your website. It helps determine your site’s layout, typography, colours, navigation, templates and the way different types of content are displayed.

A premium WordPress theme is a theme that requires payment for access to some or all of its features. Premium themes are commonly created and maintained by commercial developers or specialist WordPress companies.

Depending on the provider, a premium theme may include:

  • Additional page templates and layouts
  • Advanced design and customisation controls
  • Starter websites or demonstration content
  • Regular software and compatibility updates
  • Technical support from the developer
  • Premium blocks, widgets or design components
  • Integration with ecommerce or page-building tools

That doesn’t automatically make every premium theme better.

Some premium themes are exceptionally well built, while others are packed with features that most businesses will never use. One of the biggest misconceptions is that paying more guarantees a better website.

In reality, an expensive theme that’s poorly coded can be slower and harder to manage than a lightweight free alternative.

This is why it’s important to look beyond the price tag.

Rather than asking only whether a theme is free or premium, consider whether it’s actively maintained, performs efficiently and provides the flexibility your business actually needs.

Free vs premium WordPress themes: what’s the real difference?

Free themes are popular because they’re easy to access. You can install one through your WordPress dashboard and have a basic website running within minutes.

For a personal blog, hobby website or simple project, that may be enough.

Premium WordPress themes are generally aimed at users who need additional design flexibility, page templates, customisation controls or access to developer support.

Some also receive frequent updates, although the quality and frequency of those updates vary considerably between providers.

Free and premium WordPress themes compared

Comparison of the typical differences between free and premium WordPress themes

TemplatesMay include a limited selectionOften includes additional page or site templates
PerformanceCan be lightweight and fastCan perform well, although some themes include unnecessary features
LicenceNo paid licence normally requiredUpdates and support may require renewal
Best suited toSimple websites, blogs and personal projectsBusinesses requiring additional flexibility or support

Where people sometimes get caught out is assuming that more features always mean a better website.

In reality, many premium themes have become increasingly complex. They may include dozens of page templates, animations, sliders, widgets and design elements that most businesses never use.

While those features might look impressive in a product demonstration, they can increase loading times, complicate the editing experience and make your website harder to maintain.

A good premium WordPress theme isn’t necessarily the one with the longest feature list. It’s the one that helps your website load efficiently, works reliably and allows you to create the pages your business needs without unnecessary complexity.

That’s why choosing a theme should never be based on appearance alone. Performance, ongoing support, security, accessibility, usability and long-term reliability are just as important as how the homepage looks on day one.

How much does a premium WordPress theme cost?

The cost of a premium WordPress theme varies according to the provider, licence, number of websites covered and level of support included.

Some themes require a one-off payment, while others use an annual subscription for continued updates, premium features and technical support.

As of 29 July 2026, GeneratePress listed its premium WordPress theme at $59 per year. Current themes listed on ThemeForest included examples priced from approximately $19 to more than $100, with many themes listed around $39 to $69.

These prices are examples rather than a fixed industry-wide range. Prices, promotions, taxes, licence terms and renewal costs can change.

Before purchasing a theme, check whether the advertised price includes:

  • Future theme updates
  • Technical support
  • Use on one website or multiple websites
  • Starter templates and demonstration content
  • Premium plugins shown in the demonstration
  • Annual renewal fees
  • VAT or other applicable taxes

The hidden costs people don’t think about

When comparing free and premium WordPress themes, most people focus on the upfront price.

A free theme costs nothing to download, while a premium theme requires an initial purchase or subscription. On paper, that can make the decision seem straightforward.

In reality, the purchase price is often only one part of the total cost.

The real expense may come later, when your website starts to grow and you discover that your chosen theme doesn’t do everything you need it to.

For example, many free themes offer only basic customisation. You might be able to change your logo, colours and fonts, but encounter limitations when you want to adjust the layout, add new page sections or create something more distinctive.

That can lead to purchasing additional plugins, hiring a developer or replacing the theme entirely.

Premium themes can have their own hidden costs too.

Some require you to renew your licence every year to continue receiving updates and support. Others rely on premium plugins to unlock features that appear in the theme’s demonstration website.

A theme that initially appears inexpensive can therefore become a recurring investment involving several subscriptions.

A better question is: how much will this theme cost over the next three or five years?

Support can save you hours of frustration

If you’ve ever tried solving a WordPress problem late on a Sunday evening, you’ll know how valuable good support can be.

With many free themes, support is community-based. You might find an answer in a forum or documentation, but you may also spend hours searching through old discussions for a problem that isn’t clearly documented.

Most premium WordPress themes include some level of direct support from the developer. That doesn’t mean every support team is excellent, but having access to someone who understands the theme can make a significant difference when something isn’t working as expected.

Support isn’t just about fixing technical problems. It’s also about confidence.

Knowing that someone is available if an update causes an issue, or if you’re unsure how to achieve a particular layout, can remove much of the stress that comes with managing your own website.

For business owners, that peace of mind may be worth more than the cost of the theme itself.

Regular updates matter more than you might think

WordPress is constantly evolving.

New versions are released, security improvements are introduced, plugins receive updates and web standards continue to change. Your website isn’t something you build once and forget about. It needs ongoing maintenance to remain secure and perform reliably.

This is where a well-maintained premium theme can have an advantage.

Professional developers may release updates to maintain WordPress compatibility, fix bugs, improve performance and address security issues.

These updates help your website continue running smoothly as WordPress and its surrounding ecosystem evolve.

That said, paying for a theme doesn’t automatically guarantee long-term maintenance.

Some premium themes are updated frequently, while others are abandoned after only a few years. It’s always worth checking how actively a theme is maintained before investing in it.

The same principle applies to free themes. Many are exceptionally well maintained by dedicated developers, while others haven’t been updated for a considerable period.

A theme that’s no longer maintained can eventually become a liability, regardless of whether you paid for it.

Website speed starts with your theme

One of the biggest misconceptions is that website speed depends entirely on hosting.

Hosting certainly plays an important role, but your WordPress theme can have a significant impact too.

Every feature, animation, script and design element adds to the amount of work a browser may need to perform before a page is fully displayed.

If a theme includes dozens of features you’ll never use, some of those features may still add unnecessary code or files behind the scenes.

This is one of the biggest criticisms of some modern premium WordPress themes.

Over the years, some themes have tried to become everything for everyone. They include hundreds of templates, extensive layout options and numerous visual effects in an attempt to appeal to as many buyers as possible.

The result can be a website that’s surprisingly slow before you’ve even added your own content.

A fast-loading website doesn’t just create a better experience for visitors. It may also help reduce abandonment, keep visitors engaged and provide search engines with a stronger technical foundation.

That’s why experienced developers often favour well-coded, lightweight themes over feature-packed alternatives.

It’s not about having the most options. It’s about having the right ones.

Your theme plays a bigger role in SEO than you might think

When people think about search engine optimisation, they usually think about keywords, blog posts and backlinks.

While those are important, the foundations of good SEO are often laid long before you publish your first article.

The theme you choose can influence how quickly your website loads, how well it performs on mobile devices, how accessible its navigation is and how clearly your content is structured.

A well-built theme won’t automatically put you at the top of Google, but it can remove many of the technical obstacles that hold websites back.

Clean, maintainable code, responsive layouts, logical heading structures, accessible navigation and good performance all contribute to a stronger user experience.

The opposite is also true.

If your theme includes unnecessary code, relies on outdated technology or struggles to load efficiently, you may spend more time fixing technical issues than creating useful content.

Choosing a quality theme gives you a stronger starting point, allowing you to focus on what really matters: creating a website that provides genuine value to its visitors.

Can a premium WordPress theme improve AI search visibility?

A premium theme does not automatically make a website more visible in AI-generated answers.

However, a well-built theme can support AI and search discoverability by making content easier to access, understand and navigate.

Useful technical foundations include:

  • Clear heading structures
  • Semantic HTML
  • Fast and mobile-friendly pages
  • Accessible navigation
  • Descriptive internal links
  • Visible authorship and publication information
  • Accurate structured data
  • Content that directly answers common questions

The quality and usefulness of the content remain more important than whether the website uses a free or premium theme.

What should you look for in a premium WordPress theme?

Before purchasing a premium WordPress theme, evaluate it using the following criteria:

  • Recent updates: Check when the theme was last updated and whether development appears active.
  • WordPress compatibility: Confirm that it supports your current version of WordPress.
  • Performance: Test the demonstration website, while remembering that its hosting and content may also affect the results.
  • Mobile responsiveness: Review important pages on mobile, tablet and desktop screen sizes.
  • Accessibility: Check keyboard navigation, text contrast, form labels, heading structure and menu usability.
  • Support: Confirm what support is included, how it is provided and how long access lasts.
  • Renewal costs: Check whether updates and support require an annual licence renewal.
  • Plugin dependencies: Identify whether paid plugins are required to reproduce important features.
  • Editor compatibility: Confirm that the theme works properly with Gutenberg or your preferred editor.
  • Documentation: Make sure setup, customisation and troubleshooting instructions are available.
  • Independent feedback: Review recent customer comments and recurring support issues.
  • Long-term flexibility: Consider whether the theme can support new pages, services and functionality as your website grows.

Who should use a free WordPress theme?

A free WordPress theme may be suitable when:

  • You are creating a simple personal website or blog
  • You need only basic layouts and design controls
  • You are comfortable finding answers through documentation and community forums
  • You do not require premium templates or specialist functionality
  • The theme is actively maintained and meets your performance requirements

Choosing a free theme does not mean accepting poor quality. There are well-built free themes available through the official WordPress theme directory.

Who should consider a premium WordPress theme?

A premium WordPress theme may be worth considering when:

  • Your website is important to your business
  • You need access to developer support
  • You require additional layouts or customisation options
  • You want access to professionally designed starter templates
  • You need predictable updates and compatibility support
  • The theme provides features that would otherwise require custom development

Before paying, make sure those benefits are genuinely included and relevant to your website.

How we assessed free and premium WordPress themes

This comparison is based on more than 12 years of experience designing, developing and maintaining websites for businesses.

We assessed free and premium themes according to the factors that tend to have the greatest long-term impact on a WordPress website:

  • Page-loading performance
  • Mobile responsiveness
  • Ease of customisation
  • Compatibility with WordPress and the Gutenberg editor
  • Update frequency and long-term maintenance
  • Accessibility and navigation
  • Quality of documentation and support
  • Reliance on additional plugins
  • Potential licence and renewal costs

The right choice will depend on the purpose of your website. A simple personal blog and a growing ecommerce business are unlikely to have the same theme requirements.

So, are premium WordPress themes worth paying for?

For many businesses, the answer is yes.

A good premium WordPress theme can provide reliable support, regular updates and greater flexibility than many free alternatives.

If you’re serious about your website and see it as an investment rather than an expense, paying for a professionally developed theme can make sense.

However, there’s an important point that’s often overlooked.

Buying a premium theme is only one piece of the puzzle.

You may still need to choose reliable hosting, keep WordPress updated, install suitable plugins, monitor security, optimise performance and make sure everything continues working together as your website grows.

For many business owners, that’s where things become complicated.

A different approach with Baiws

Baiws is our own AI-powered WordPress website-building platform. We created it to remove much of the complexity involved in choosing, configuring and maintaining separate themes, hosting services and website-management tools.

Instead of asking users to browse thousands of WordPress themes, compare feature lists and connect multiple third-party services, Baiws includes a premium WordPress theme developed specifically for the platform.

The theme is integrated with WordPress and designed to work with the Baiws AI website builder.

This means the theme, website editor and managed services are developed to work together rather than being assembled from unrelated products.

The Baiws theme has been developed with performance, SEO, usability and Gutenberg compatibility in mind.

Baiws also includes managed hosting, automatic updates, SSL, backups, security features and built-in analytics.

This integrated approach may suit business owners who would rather manage their website through one platform than select and maintain each component separately.

Frequently asked questions

Are premium WordPress themes better than free themes?

Premium WordPress themes aren’t automatically better than free themes. A lightweight, actively maintained free theme may perform better than a poorly coded premium product. Compare the theme’s performance, update history, support, accessibility and suitability for your website rather than relying on price alone.

How much does a premium WordPress theme cost?

Premium WordPress theme prices vary significantly. Some themes require a one-off payment, while others charge annually for continued updates and support. As of 29 July 2026, GeneratePress listed its premium theme at $59 per year, while current ThemeForest listings included examples ranging from approximately $19 to more than $100. Always check the current price, tax treatment, licence limits and renewal terms before purchasing.

Do premium WordPress themes improve SEO?

A premium theme does not automatically improve SEO or guarantee higher rankings. However, a well-built theme can provide a stronger technical foundation through fast loading times, responsive layouts, accessible navigation and clean, maintainable code.

Do premium WordPress themes include hosting?

Standalone premium WordPress themes do not usually include web hosting. You will normally need to arrange hosting, install WordPress and manage updates, backups and security separately. Some managed website platforms combine these services within one subscription.

Do premium themes require annual renewal?

Some premium themes require an annual renewal for continued updates and support, while others offer one-off or lifetime licences. Review the licence terms carefully before purchasing.

Can I change my WordPress theme later?

Yes, you can change your WordPress theme. However, switching may affect layouts, menus, widgets, styling and features that depend on your previous theme. Create a complete backup and test the change on a staging website before applying it to a live business website.

What is the best WordPress theme for a business website?

The best WordPress theme for a business website is one that meets the website’s actual requirements, loads efficiently, works properly on mobile devices, receives regular updates and remains easy to maintain. The right choice depends on the business, its content, required functionality and available technical support.

Is a premium WordPress theme included with Baiws?

Yes. Baiws includes a professionally developed WordPress theme designed specifically for its AI-powered website builder. The platform also includes managed hosting, security features, SSL, backups, updates and built-in website-management tools.

The bottom line

Premium WordPress themes are often worth paying for, but only if they genuinely add value.

The best themes aren’t necessarily the ones with the most animations, the biggest feature lists or the highest prices. They’re the ones that are well maintained, perform efficiently, remain secure and make building your website easier rather than more complicated.

If you’re buying a standalone theme, take the time to look beyond the screenshots.

Check how frequently it’s updated, read independent reviews, consider the quality of support and think about how it will serve your business over the next few years, not just the next few weeks.

Alternatively, if you’d rather skip the process of comparing thousands of themes altogether, Baiws offers a different solution.

With a professionally developed premium WordPress theme already included, combined with AI-powered website creation and the services needed to launch and manage your website, you can focus on building your business instead of building your website.

Whether you choose a standalone premium theme or an all-in-one platform like Baiws, the goal is the same: to create a fast, reliable and professional website that gives visitors confidence from the moment they arrive.

What Is an AI Website Builder? Everything Small Businesses Need to Know (2026 Guide)

Introduction

An AI website builder is a platform that uses artificial intelligence to help create, structure and edit a website. It can generate page layouts, suggest content and allow users to make changes using natural-language instructions rather than building every element manually.

For small businesses, an AI website builder can reduce the time and technical knowledge required to launch a professional website. However, platforms differ considerably in flexibility, ownership, portability, performance and the amount of control they provide after the website has been generated.

A few years ago, building a website usually meant choosing between two expensive or time-consuming options. You either hired a web designer and waited for the finished product, or you tried building it yourself and discovered there was far more involved than dragging a few boxes around a page.

Finding reliable hosting, choosing a theme, installing plugins, improving page speed, understanding search engine optimisation and making sure everything worked on mobile devices could all become part of the job.

For many business owners, especially those launching a new venture, it felt like learning an entirely new profession.

Today, that picture is changing.

AI website builders can help generate layouts, organise pages and create initial content based on information about your business. Instead of searching through dozens of settings or learning technical terminology, you can explain what you want the website to achieve and use AI to produce a starting point.

However, not every AI website builder works in the same way.

Some platforms create attractive websites but provide limited options for moving them elsewhere. Others prioritise speed over quality and generate generic layouts that require significant editing before they accurately represent a business.

The best platforms combine the efficiency of artificial intelligence with the flexibility, performance and long-term control needed to support a business as it grows.

In this guide, we’ll explain what an AI website builder is, how the technology works, its advantages and limitations, which features matter most and how to choose the right platform for your business.

AI website builders: key takeaways

  • AI website builders can generate layouts, page structures and initial website content.
  • They can reduce the time and technical knowledge required to launch a website.
  • AI-generated content, images and layouts should still be reviewed and customised by a person.
  • Website ownership, portability and editing control vary considerably between platforms.
  • Built-in hosting, security, backups and SEO tools can simplify long-term website management.
  • Artificial intelligence does not automatically guarantee good design, accurate content or high search rankings.
  • The best AI website builder balances ease of use with performance, flexibility and long-term control.

How does an AI website builder work?

Although artificial intelligence can seem complicated, using an AI website builder is usually straightforward.

At its core, the technology is designed to automate some of the repetitive work involved in creating a website. This allows users to focus on their business, content and customers rather than every technical step behind the website.

Traditional website builders usually ask you to choose a template before editing individual sections. You may spend time changing colours, resizing text, moving content blocks and adjusting settings to make the website look professional.

An AI website builder approaches the process differently.

Instead of asking you to build every page manually, it may begin by asking questions about:

  • Your business or organisation
  • The products or services you provide
  • Your target customers
  • The pages your website requires
  • Your preferred design style
  • The actions you want visitors to take

The AI uses this information to generate an initial website structure. Depending on the platform, it may create page layouts, write draft content, suggest headings, organise navigation and recommend sections relevant to your industry.

For example, a local electrician’s website may need service descriptions, areas covered, customer reviews, emergency contact details and a clear way to request a quotation.

An online clothing retailer has different priorities. Customers may need product categories, filters, secure checkout pages, delivery information, returns guidance and an easy way to manage their accounts.

A capable AI website builder should adapt to these different requirements instead of producing the same generic structure for every business.

The first version should be treated as a starting point rather than a finished website. You should review the facts, replace generic text, add your own images, refine the design and make sure the result accurately reflects your brand.

The goal isn’t to remove creativity or human judgement. It’s to reduce the repetitive work that often comes before it.

Typical AI website-building process

  1. Describe your business: Provide information about your services, customers and website goals.
  2. Generate the initial website: The AI creates suggested pages, layouts and content.
  3. Review the result: Check the information, design, navigation and calls to action.
  4. Customise the website: Edit text, images, colours, layouts and functionality.
  5. Test important features: Check forms, mobile layouts, accessibility, performance and links.
  6. Publish the website: Connect the domain and make the reviewed website publicly available.
  7. Continue improving it: Add content, monitor performance and update the website as the business changes.

What can an AI website builder create?

The capabilities of AI website builders vary, but many platforms can assist with several parts of the website-building process.

Depending on the product, an AI website builder may help create:

  • Homepages
  • Service pages
  • About pages
  • Contact pages
  • Landing pages
  • Blog layouts
  • Product and category pages
  • Frequently asked questions
  • Calls to action
  • Navigation menus
  • Initial website copy
  • Suggested images or visual assets

More advanced platforms may also help users change existing pages, create new sections, rewrite content or adjust layouts through natural-language instructions.

However, the ability to generate a page does not guarantee that every detail will be correct. Business claims, service descriptions, prices, contact details and legal information should always be checked before publication.

The biggest misconception about AI website builders

One of the most common concerns is that every AI-generated website will look the same.

It’s an understandable assumption, especially when many online examples use similar layouts, generic images and repetitive marketing language.

The reality is that the quality of the result depends heavily on the platform, the instructions provided and the amount of customisation completed after generation.

Some AI website builders simply create a basic template with placeholder content. While they may be quick, the result can lack personality and require significant editing before it’s ready to publish.

Other platforms provide more control over the finished result. Rather than replacing your input, the AI works alongside you by suggesting ideas, building layouts and speeding up production while still allowing you to customise the website.

That’s an important distinction because your website should not feel interchangeable with every other business in your industry.

Your brand has its own story, customers, services and goals. The technology should help communicate those things more effectively rather than replace them with generic marketing copy.

The best AI website builders don’t aim to remove the human element. They make creating a professional website faster and more accessible while leaving important creative and commercial decisions in the user’s hands.

What are the benefits of using an AI website builder?

An AI website builder can offer several advantages, particularly for small businesses and users without extensive design or development experience.

Faster website creation

AI can produce an initial page structure and draft content more quickly than building every section manually. This can help businesses move from an idea to a reviewable website without starting from a blank page.

Lower technical barrier

Natural-language instructions can make website creation easier for users who aren’t familiar with code, WordPress settings or technical terminology.

Help with content structure

AI can suggest useful sections and organise information into a logical page structure. This can be valuable for business owners who know what they offer but aren’t sure how to present it online.

Quicker updates

Some platforms allow users to request changes conversationally. This may make it easier to add a service, revise a heading or create a new section without manually adjusting several settings.

Reduced reliance on multiple tools

Platforms that combine the website builder with hosting, security, backups and analytics may reduce the number of separate services a business needs to manage.

A stronger starting point

A well-designed AI website builder can provide a structured starting point that users can refine rather than expecting them to make every design and content decision from the beginning.

What are the limitations of AI website builders?

AI website builders can make website creation faster, but they still have limitations.

  • Generated content may be inaccurate: Business details, claims, prices, locations and service information should always be checked before publishing.
  • Designs can feel generic: The initial result may require customisation to reflect your brand and distinguish it from competitors.
  • Advanced features may require development: Complex booking systems, customer portals, data integrations and specialist functionality may still need technical assistance.
  • Accessibility requires review: Generated pages should be checked for keyboard navigation, heading structure, colour contrast, alternative text, form labels and screen-reader compatibility.
  • Platform lock-in varies: Some builders make it difficult to export or move a website elsewhere.
  • SEO is not automatic: AI can assist with content and structure, but rankings still depend on relevance, competition, performance, authority and the overall usefulness of the website.
  • Legal content requires care: Privacy policies, terms, regulated claims and industry-specific information should be checked by an appropriately qualified person where necessary.
  • AI still requires direction: Better instructions and more accurate business information normally produce better results.

AI should be viewed as an assistant rather than an unquestionable source. Human review remains essential before publishing a business website.

What should you look for in an AI website builder?

With many platforms now offering AI-powered website creation, choosing the right one can feel almost as confusing as building a website from scratch.

While every provider promises impressive results, several factors can make a significant difference over the long term.

Flexibility

Your website shouldn’t be unnecessarily limited by the platform you choose today.

As your business grows, you may want to add an online shop, create landing pages, publish articles, connect third-party services or introduce new customer features.

Check whether the website builder can support those changes without requiring you to rebuild the entire website.

Ease of use

AI is supposed to simplify website creation, not replace one complicated interface with another.

Look at how easily you can create pages, edit existing content, change layouts, manage navigation and publish updates after the initial website has been generated.

Editing control

Check whether you can change the generated content, images, colours, fonts, sections and layouts.

You should also establish whether the AI can edit existing content or only generate the first version of the website.

Performance

Visitors expect websites to load quickly and work reliably across different devices.

A slow website can frustrate potential customers and make it harder for them to complete important actions such as submitting a form or purchasing a product.

Test demonstration websites where possible, while remembering that performance is also affected by hosting, images, plugins, scripts and the content added later.

Mobile responsiveness

Your website should be easy to use on smartphones, tablets and desktop computers.

Check important page elements such as menus, forms, buttons, tables, images and checkout pages across different screen sizes.

Accessibility

Accessibility should be considered from the beginning rather than treated as an optional improvement.

Look for logical heading structures, keyboard-friendly navigation, readable text, sufficient colour contrast, descriptive form labels and support for image alternative text.

Security and backups

Every website requires updates, backups and protection against potential threats.

Check what the platform manages automatically, how frequently backups are created and whether you can restore an earlier version of the website if something goes wrong.

SEO controls

Look for control over page titles, meta descriptions, URLs, image alternative text, redirects, canonical URLs, sitemaps and indexability settings.

AI-generated content alone does not guarantee search visibility, so the platform should still provide access to important SEO controls.

Ownership and portability

Establish who controls the domain, content, hosting account and website files.

Check whether the website can be exported or transferred, what happens if the subscription ends and whether important features depend on proprietary technology.

Support

Good support can save significant time when a technical issue affects a business website.

Check whether support is provided through email, live chat, documentation or community forums, and whether different plans receive different levels of assistance.

Pricing and long-term costs

Compare more than the introductory monthly price.

Check whether the service includes hosting, themes, ecommerce features, backups, analytics, email services, additional users, AI usage limits and renewal costs.

Why website ownership and portability matter

For many businesses, building a website is initially treated as a one-off project. Once it’s live, it’s easy to assume the hard work is over.

In reality, a website should continue evolving alongside the business. New services are introduced, customer expectations change and marketing strategies develop over time.

A website that works well today may require different functionality two or three years from now.

That’s why control and portability matter.

Some closed website builders make it easy to launch a website but more difficult to move it elsewhere. Pages, designs and functionality may remain closely tied to the provider’s proprietary system.

Migrating can therefore involve rebuilding parts of the website, even after the business has invested substantial time creating its content.

WordPress takes a different approach.

WordPress is an open-source publishing platform supported by a large ecosystem of themes, plugins, developers and hosting providers. This can provide businesses with more options when their requirements change.

However, using WordPress does not automatically guarantee complete ownership or portability of every connected component.

Control can also depend on:

  • Who owns and manages the domain name
  • Who controls the hosting account
  • Whether website files and database backups are available
  • The licences attached to themes and plugins
  • Whether proprietary services are used
  • The terms of the website-building platform

Before choosing any website builder, review what can be exported, transferred or retained if you later change provider.

Who should use an AI website builder?

An AI website builder may be suitable for small businesses, freelancers, startups and organisations that want to launch a professional website without building every page manually.

It can be particularly useful when:

  • You want to launch a website quickly
  • You have limited website-design or development experience
  • You need help structuring pages and writing initial content
  • You want to update the website using natural-language instructions
  • You would prefer hosting, security and maintenance to be managed in one place
  • You need a website that can continue growing with your business

An AI website builder may be less suitable when you require highly specialised functionality, complex software integrations or complete control over every technical decision.

In those situations, working with an experienced developer or agency may still be the better approach.

How Baiws approaches AI website building

Baiws is our own AI-powered WordPress website-building platform. It was created to make WordPress easier to use while preserving the flexibility of an open-source publishing platform.

Founded by digital marketing and website-development specialist Max Garrod, Baiws was built around a simple observation.

Large organisations often have designers, developers and marketers working together to create and manage their websites. Small businesses rarely have access to the same resources, despite competing for customers in the same online marketplace.

Baiws aims to reduce that gap.

Instead of asking business owners to learn hosting, themes, plugins and website development before creating their first page, Baiws combines artificial intelligence with more than a decade of practical website experience.

Through a conversational interface, users can generate pages, create sections, update content and continue refining their website without needing extensive technical knowledge.

The websites are powered by WordPress, allowing users to benefit from an established open-source platform and its wider ecosystem.

You can explore the Baiws platform to see how the website-building process works.

Built around WordPress

One of the main differences between Baiws and many closed website builders is that it uses WordPress rather than replacing it with a completely proprietary content-management system.

WordPress is used by businesses that value flexibility and access to a large ecosystem of plugins, themes and developers.

The traditional disadvantage has often been the learning curve. Installing themes, configuring plugins, managing hosting and keeping everything updated can feel daunting for someone who has never worked with WordPress.

Baiws is designed to remove much of that complexity while retaining access to WordPress.

Instead of navigating numerous settings to create every section, users can ask the AI to generate pages, add elements, rewrite content or update layouts through natural-language instructions.

This can provide greater flexibility than a fully closed website builder. However, as with any hosted service, website control and portability also depend on domain ownership, account access, backups, licences and the applicable service terms.

AI that assists rather than takes over

Artificial intelligence is a powerful tool, but it remains a tool.

The role of AI shouldn’t be to make every website look or sound the same. It should reduce repetitive work while leaving important creative and commercial decisions with the user.

Baiws has been developed around this principle.

Users can describe what they would like to create using natural language. For example, they can request a pricing section, testimonials, a new service page or changes to an existing homepage.

The AI helps create or update the structure, while the user can continue editing the content and layout.

This allows AI to accelerate the process without treating the first generated result as final.

Designed to support long-term growth

For many businesses, launching a website is only the beginning.

After publication, they may want to improve search visibility, add services, publish articles, monitor visitor behaviour or introduce new functionality.

Baiws combines AI-assisted website creation with WordPress so that users can continue developing the website after the initial launch.

You can also read our guide comparing free and premium WordPress themes when considering the long-term foundations of a WordPress website.

What is included with Baiws?

Creating a website often involves managing several different services.

A business might purchase hosting from one provider, a theme from another, security tools from a third company and analytics software from somewhere else.

Baiws brings several essential website services together within one platform.

Depending on the selected plan, Baiws may include:

  • AI-assisted WordPress website creation
  • The Baiws WordPress theme
  • Managed WordPress hosting
  • SSL security
  • Website backups
  • Managed updates
  • Website security features
  • Built-in analytics
  • SEO tools
  • Access to WordPress and the Gutenberg editor

Users should review the current Baiws plans and pricing for the exact features, usage limits and services included with each plan.

The Baiws WordPress theme

Every Baiws website uses a WordPress theme developed specifically for the platform.

The theme is designed to work with the AI website editor while remaining compatible with the native Gutenberg block editor.

This reduces reliance on a collection of unrelated themes and page-building tools while retaining access to WordPress.

Managed hosting, security and backups

Hosting and ongoing maintenance can be some of the most confusing aspects of running a WordPress website.

Baiws is designed to manage much of this infrastructure within the service, including hosting, SSL, backups and platform updates.

Businesses should still follow good account-security practices, keep their business information current and review their website regularly.

Built-in analytics

Baiws Analytics is designed to help users understand how visitors find and use their websites.

Analytics can support better decisions about content, marketing and website improvements, although the available data and retention may depend on the selected plan and current platform features.

Is Baiws designed for SEO?

Baiws has been developed with search-friendly website foundations in mind.

Websites are designed to work across desktop, tablet and mobile devices, while the underlying platform aims to support efficient performance and logical content structure.

Users can also access WordPress SEO tools to manage important page-level information.

Depending on the selected plan and enabled features, this may include support for:

  • SEO page titles
  • Meta descriptions
  • Search-friendly URLs
  • Image alternative text
  • XML sitemaps
  • Canonical URLs
  • Structured data
  • Social-sharing information
  • AI-assisted content optimisation

No website builder can guarantee a number-one Google ranking or automatic inclusion in AI-generated answers.

Search visibility depends on many factors, including content quality, technical performance, competition, backlinks, relevance, location and the authority a website develops over time.

Baiws aims to provide a strong technical starting point so businesses can focus on creating useful content and serving their customers.

Can an AI website builder improve AI search visibility?

An AI website builder does not automatically make a website more visible in ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity or other AI-powered search experiences.

However, a well-built platform can support discoverability by making website content easier to access, understand and navigate.

Helpful foundations include:

  • Clear heading structures
  • Semantic HTML
  • Fast, mobile-friendly pages
  • Accessible navigation
  • Descriptive internal links
  • Visible authorship and publication information
  • Accurate structured data
  • Useful, original content
  • Direct answers to common questions
  • External citations for factual claims

AI systems may use different search indexes, crawlers and selection criteria. There is no special tag that guarantees a page will be included or cited.

The most reliable approach is to publish accurate, useful and clearly structured content while ensuring that the website can be crawled and indexed.

Who is Baiws designed for?

Baiws has been designed primarily for people who want a professional WordPress website without managing every technical step themselves.

It may be suitable for:

  • Small businesses launching their first website
  • Freelancers and consultants
  • Startups creating an initial online presence
  • Existing businesses replacing an outdated website
  • Users who want to create and edit pages conversationally
  • Businesses that want WordPress without handling all hosting and maintenance tasks independently
  • Agencies or professionals helping clients establish an online presence

Baiws may not be the right option for every project.

Highly specialised applications, complex internal systems or websites requiring extensive custom integrations may still need a bespoke development team.

The appropriate choice depends on the website’s goals, required functionality, budget and long-term technical requirements.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI website builder?

An AI website builder is a platform that uses artificial intelligence to help create and edit a website. Depending on the platform, it may generate page layouts, suggest content, create sections, recommend images and allow users to make changes using natural-language instructions.

How does an AI website builder work?

An AI website builder normally asks for information about your business, audience and website requirements. It uses that information to generate an initial website structure, page layouts and draft content that you can review and customise before publishing.

Can AI build a complete website?

AI can generate a strong starting point for a complete website, including pages, layouts and initial content. However, the result should still be reviewed for factual accuracy, branding, accessibility, legal requirements and the specific needs of customers.

Do I need technical experience to use an AI website builder?

Most AI website builders are designed for people without coding or web-development experience. The level of technical knowledge required varies between platforms, particularly when adding advanced features or connecting external services.

How quickly can an AI website builder create a website?

Some AI website builders can generate an initial website within minutes. The time needed to publish a professional website depends on how much content, customisation, testing and review are required.

Are AI-generated websites good for SEO?

An AI-generated website can provide a useful technical starting point for SEO, but artificial intelligence does not guarantee search rankings. Search visibility also depends on useful content, website performance, competition, backlinks, local relevance and how well the website satisfies visitors.

Can I edit an AI-generated website?

Most AI website builders allow users to edit the generated website. Before choosing a platform, check whether you can change the content, layouts, colours, images, navigation and functionality after the initial website has been created.

Who owns an AI-generated website?

Ownership and portability depend on the platform’s terms, domain registration, hosting arrangement and underlying technology. Some platforms allow websites to be transferred or exported, while others require them to remain within a proprietary system. Review these details before committing to a platform.

Is WordPress an AI website builder?

WordPress itself is an open-source publishing platform rather than an AI website builder. However, AI-powered products and plugins can be built around WordPress to simplify website creation, content production and editing.

Is an AI website builder suitable for ecommerce?

Some AI website builders support ecommerce features such as product pages, shopping baskets and checkout systems. Businesses should check payment processing, inventory management, tax settings, delivery options, security and scalability before selecting a platform.

Can an AI website builder replace a web designer?

An AI website builder can reduce the amount of manual design and development required for many straightforward websites. However, experienced designers and developers remain valuable for specialist branding, complex functionality, advanced integrations, accessibility testing and bespoke digital products.

Is Baiws an AI WordPress website builder?

Yes. Baiws combines an AI-assisted conversational website builder with WordPress. Users can generate pages, edit sections and refine content while benefiting from the flexibility of an established open-source publishing platform.

The bottom line

AI website builders can make professional website creation faster and more accessible, particularly for small businesses without dedicated design or development teams.

The best platforms do more than generate an attractive homepage. They provide the editing control, performance, security, portability and long-term flexibility needed to support a website after it launches.

Before choosing a platform, consider how easily you can customise the generated result, who controls the domain and website data, what happens if you leave the service and whether the platform can support future growth.

AI should reduce repetitive work without replacing human judgement.

A successful website still requires accurate information, a clear understanding of its audience, useful content and regular improvement after publication.

Baiws combines AI-assisted website creation with WordPress, managed hosting and website-management tools. It is designed for businesses that want to create and maintain a professional website without independently configuring every technical component.

Baiws Is Now Launched — Founder Message and Walkthrough

It’s finally here, Baiws is launched! Baiws.com. From what started out as helping others morphed into an app that was quoted £50k-£250k+ to build, so I decided to build it myself.

And the best part, I’m giving it away for free too.

Around a year ago I started giving time back to startups and SMEs mentoring them how to make the most for their business with a lot of people still asking how to start digital marketing which was shocking to me. Haven’t the world’s biggest companies cracked this? So I thought.

There’s plenty of help out there too with many experienced professionals willing to lend an ear or free programmes to attend to help build the skills you need.

I’ve helped hundreds through 1-to-1s and led webinars on platforms like Digital boost, Grow London/Grow London Local, Enterprise Nation and worked with many more across the country doing good work to help people with too many to mention in this post. There’s incredible communities out there you just have to look, don’t build alone.

There was one big but, I couldn’t confidently recommend any website platform that doesn’t keep their customers hostage and let them own their website. This will be controversial to some.

I have been working in the website/apps/digital marketing space for over 10 years.

I’m fully aware I’ve been one of the lucky ones. Starting out I made £5k in my 1st year of business when I was 19 tirelessly calling local businesses to build them simple websites to get online.

Flash forward 5 years and I was designing websites that are award-nominated, and some for very large companies.

Then I got a few breaks, working with tech companies on application design and development for some the biggest global brands.

Flash forward 10 years (a few years ago now) and I had to ask myself, why am I doing this. Where do I head next? There was something missing.

Enter Baiws.

Building Baiws allowed me to continue to help others at the start of their business run or those trying out ideas.

Baiws is an AI Website Design and Marketing platform built on-top of the open source WordPress platform trusted by millions of websites around the world. It allows people to take full control of their website.

The problem is that it was far too hard to get started, build your website, manage and grow.

Baiws now makes it easy to set up in a few clicks, build with AI through a simple chat with maintenance all taken care of so business can do what they love and find what works faster.

The best part is this is just the beginning, with more features coming soon to support businesses in even more ways. And this isn’t just what I think business want, I’m building for what businesses ask for to help them move even faster.

This is built for website developers too at all levels, use the theme for free to build your own websites. I’ve been to the depths with AI, and it isn’t replacing design and development professionals any time soon. Creativity still remains a very human thing.

It’s going to be a wild ride, but I love what I do for businesses of all sizes and regardless where this ends up I’m doing it for the right reasons.

Your support is appreciated and it will be great to see what you create.

If you do have feedback I would love to hear it, don’t be a stranger.

Oh and one last thing… c’mon England! 4-2! Great start, It’s coming home!

Happy building,
Max Garrod
